Santa Barbara's Hands-On Physical Therapy Clinic Since 2002

About Elite Performance & Rehabilitation Center

Elite Performance & Rehabilitation Center opened in Goleta in September 2002 with a simple idea: build a physical therapy practice where the therapist actually has time to put hands on you. More than twenty years later, that’s still how we run.

We schedule low volume on purpose. Fewer patients on the books means more one-on-one manual therapy time, and it’s the reason our care doesn’t look like the assembly-line model you may have experienced elsewhere. Every treatment plan starts with a full evaluation — your history, your imaging and surgical reports, and a detailed clinical exam — and no two plans look alike, because no two bodies do.

Our team of licensed physical therapists and certified athletic trainers specializes in orthopedic and post-surgical rehabilitation using joint and soft tissue mobilization, neural mobilization, PNF, and myofascial release. We also offer custom orthotics with full gait analysis, pelvic floor physical therapy, and endurance and multisport coaching for runners and triathletes.

Elite has been embedded in Santa Barbara athletics from the beginning. Our therapists and ATCs work on-site with UCSB Intercollegiate Athletics,  Westmont College, and Bishop Diego. Founder Mike Swan, a seven-time Ironman World Championship competitor and the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table’s 2022 Masters Athlete Award recipient, also established the USC Elite Performance Physical Therapy Scholarship Fund in 2020 to open the profession to underrepresented students.

Two locations — Hollister Avenue in the Magnolia Shopping Center and Gray Avenue downtown. Contracted with Medicare and accepting most private insurance plans.

Our Vision

Build a state of the art physical therapy clinic which combined other disciplines of health and wellness creating the only facility like it in the region.

Our Philosophy

We believe in low-volume scheduling, which allows for maximal hands-on time with our patients and results in the highest quality of care. Elite Performance also believes in supporting the community through local activism in the local high school, club, and college athletic programs by providing a Certified Athletic Trainer and licensed physical therapists during practice and game schedules. We strive to maintain strong community relations by working hard and developing trust with physicians, parents, and athletes.

Our Mission

We are committed as primary healthcare professionals to help our clients resume their lifelong pursuit of health, fitness, and well-being.
