. Rehabilitation
Elite Performance & Rehabilitation Center uses a
hands-on treatment approach. Special attention is paid to the
bio-mechanics and patho-mechanics of each patient. Working closely with
physicians, we assess each patient through an evaluation that encompasses
a written and verbal history, a review of any previous records such as
MRI’s, X-rays and surgical reports, and an extensive clinical examination.
The evaluation is the first step in the path to recovery. Subsequent
treatments are founded on the information gathered during the assessment
process.
Elite Performance & Rehabilitation Center specializes in
all aspects of orthopedic rehabilitation utilizing manual techniques
such as joint
mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, neural mobilization,
PNF, myofascial release, and biomechanical assessments. You will
work closely with a highly motivated staff of licensed Physical Therapists,
Certified Athletic Trainers, exercise assistants, and a friendly front
office staff to maximize your experience while under our care.
Treatment regimens are individualized based on diagnosis, individual
goals and individual limitations; no two patients are treated exactly
the same because no two people are the same. Our path to recovery
does however follow a specific philosophy based on our experience of
treating thousands of clients. This path entails:
-
Pain reduction and inflammation control.
We use our modalities such as ice, moist heat, ultrasound, TENS, interferential
electrical stimulation to gain control over the pain, muscles spasms,
or swelling associated with your condition.
-
Restore joint mobility and tissue mobility.
Once the pain cycle is managed to the point of control we employ Manual
Therapy techniques of massage, joint mobilizations, soft tissue mobilizations,
self-stretching, and PNF techniques to restore ROM (range of motion)
and flexibility to the affected areas. We often maintain a high level
of pain control during this process to limit any delayed onset of pain
or inflammation following a manual treatment.
- Strength training for core and foundation.
We believe in beginning strength training to the affected area only
after the pain cycle is well controlled and adequate ROM is restored.
The supporting structural stabilizers in the affected region are targeted
first and foremost. This lays the groundwork for a strong foundation
leading to functional strength training.
Strength training for function.
With restored joint mobility and adequate ROM, a well managed pain/inflammation
level and a strong foundation of core stabilizers, we believe that
the patient is now ready to begin a safe and appropriate strength training
routine for restoration of function. Each client may have specific
functional needs that will be addressed in order to return to work,
sports, or activities of daily living.
We believe in educating our patients; the transition from clinical care
to self care can be filled with stress and anxiety. It is our goal to educate
and direct our patients into a home exercise program or gym program that
allows for continued focus on fitness and well being. Many patients experience
a lifestyle change while under our care and begin to appreciate a more
active healthier lifestyle.
